Discovery and Shopping Tour
An ideal orientation tour for the visitor seeking to get acquainted with local life. Brush shoulders with friendly people in and out of the Greater Banjul Area whilst discovering the sheer delights The Gambia has to offer. A competent Guide will escort guests, introducing them to local customs and traditions as well as the history of the nation. First, we will go to the Crocodile Pool. The sacred pool has been in existence and is owned by the Bojang family for over 500 years; the first settlers in Bakau. Not only is the pool the home of approximately 70 crocodiles, but it is also considered to be a sacred place for people facing difficulties in life such as problems at work and infertility. It is believed that either drinking or bathing from the pool water would help overcome the difficulties being faces. We will also have a chance of touching a friendly crocodile.
A call at The National Museum in Banjul will give guests a better insight into the history of The Gambia. From there, we visit the Albert Market; a daily market and crafts market, where all the sights and colours of Africa will come to you as never before. Shop through the streets and markets of The Gambia during the tour; visiting Gaya Art Café, HG Art Gallery, Mama Africa Art Gallery, Emporium Shopping complex, Albert Market and other Gambian exquisite fashion designer outlets before stopping for lunch at a local restaurant. A panoramic drive through Serrekunda follows en route to our last stop, a Tye & Dye Batik Factory.
